The Indiana Pacers carved a niche for themselves in the American Basketball Association (ABA), capturing three championships in 1970, 1972, and 1973. They showcased their prowess on the court, reaching the ABA Finals five times, including appearances in 1969 and 1975.

As the ABA merged with the NBA, the Pacers continued their success. They made eight appearances in the NBA Eastern Conference finals, in the years 1994, 1995, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2004, 2013, and 2014. They also played in the 2000 NBA Finals, but ultimately lost to the Lakers in six games.

Despite their conference dominance, the Pacers have yet to taste NBA championship glory. Their closest attempt came during the 1999-00 campaign, when they reached the NBA Finals but succumbed to the Lakers. They have made the conference finals a total of nine times, but have fallen short at the championship hurdle.
