Toronto Blue Jays reliever Tim Mayza served as the team's bat boy for the first three innings of their 14-13 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies in their Grapefruit League opener at TD Ballpark on Monday.

Mayza Punished for Fantasy League Loss

Mayza's demotion came as a punishment for finishing last in the team's fantasy baseball league. As part of the punishment, Mayza was required to serve as the bat boy for the first three innings of the spring training game against the Phillies.

Despite his veteran status, Mayza accepted the punishment with good humor. He said, "I finished last in the fantasy league, so I knew something was coming. I'm just glad it was only three innings."

Mayza is expected to return to his regular role as a reliever for the Blue Jays on Tuesday.
